“Confucius Institutes are an important part of China’s overseas propaganda set-up.”

Confucius Institutes are 100% controlled by the Chinese government.

Canada’s security Intelligence service (C.S.I.S.) assess Confucius Institutes to be engaged in Intelligence Activities:

“CIs have a primarily political agenda. Although this is not stated on the website of Hanban (Chinese National Office for Teaching Chinese as a foreign Language) or in the contracts it signs with host institutions, Chinese leaders describe it as an organization for spreading propaganda and building soft power.”

Discrimination Found in TDSB C.I. Candidate Requirements

In a C.I. document titled: “Selecting Teachers for the 2014 Confucius Institute in Toronto Canada,” it states:

“Candidates will be assessed to ensure they meet political ideology requirements.”

Not only does this solidify the already discussed controversies surrounding C.I., this discrimination goes against TDSB hiring policies and Ontario human rights codes. Knowing this fact alone TDSB has an obligation to suspend contracts with C.I.

Confucius Institutes: Trojan Horses with Chinese Characteristics

Confucius Institutes: Trojan Horses with Chinese Characteristics

Confucius Institutes are described as non-profit public institutions aligned with the government of the People’s Republic of China whose purpose is to promote Chinese language and culture, as well as facilitate cultural exchanges. This seemingly benign purpose leaves out a number of purposes both salient and sinister, namely, sanitizing China’s image abroad, enhancing its “soft power” globally, and creating a new generation of China watchers who well-disposed towards the Communist dictatorship.
